Another Week

Survived the last week.  Lots of weather as y'all know.  Missed Big R and hit the town east of us but in the same county.  Lots of damage and 11 killed, I think.  Biggest mess was the cars/trucks blown off a bridge on one of the toll roads.  Now we have to put up with rain, cold weather 30's, and snow to the west.  Happy I'm not working today but am getting the stitches out of the Frankenstien operation.  STARS shut out the St. Louis Blues last night. Yeah. Last 2 home games shut-outs  The previous one against the Grey Doves. (Blackhawks). Allen AmericNs doing ok but probable will not have 4 cups in a row.  The Missouri team is doing very well with a coach that started with the Americans and moved the MO last year.   Enuff for now

Frankenstein

or at least that is what I look like.  Had basal cell removed FR and the scar on my forehead is about 2 inches with nice stitches.  Stitches out next MO 12/28.  Every thing is healing well.  Has not stopped the hockey attendance but did stop the bike riding as the MD said no vigorous exercise.  Enuff for now.

On Vacation

or at least it feels like it for night time activities.  Only 3 hockey games this week TU, TH, and SA. GO STARS. Looking forward to nights at home.  Last week was 3 theater performances, 3 hockey games (2-Allen Americans, 1-STARS) and one party of the garden club.  Off to the dentist this am for 6 month check up and then working my normal 3 days. Rest of the time normal?

WHEW!!!

Nice visit in GA the last few days.  Learned some new things, how to count to 100, and musical notes necessary to know before crossing the street.  Ate lots of ice cream/Apple pie 24 hrs per day.  Jacob has a new/old clarinet that both Br. Cassian and I played many years ago-yes it is antique as the previous owners.  Trip back was semi in-eventful but it did take 2 hrs longer than forecast (by Garmin) at the start.  Lots of traffic and I passed more in the "curb" lane than in the"passing" lane.  Cars liked the passing lane at 35mph and the curb lane was 65mph.  IH 10 was shut down - for some reason - no visible accidents when the traffic started moving again.  Added 30 minutes there.  Thought I would run out of gas sitting there.
Even after all that will be headin back next year.

Drying Out

After approx. 8 inches in the area we awe drying out.  Now I don't have to water the yard this week.  Hot one week and wet the next.  Naturally did not ride this weekend-No pontoons for the bike.  Lot of hockey in the next week.  STARS last SA, Tu, TH, SA, with the DSO on FR. Guess I will not be sitting around the house much this week.

BRRRRRR

From the highest temp (in Oct) since records started to really cold 50's today.  High in the 80's.  Had to get out the blankets and turn on the furnace.  Can't wait till summer again.

Semi-Normal?

Pretty normal time since last post.  Something different, I emptied part of my garage.  Jason and Nolan visited and took part of the movable stuff in the garage back to TN.  I now have room to fill it up with more stuff.  STARS are 1:1 after 2 games. Hopefully the will continue to improve.  More later

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

That is me snoring and y'all after reading this.  Nothing new.  Same old stuff - bike riding, working, eating, sleeping.  The only thing new is HOCKEY has started again. It's preseason and STARS are finding the team for the year.  Playing lots of different lines etc and interesting to watch but not too many wins.  Snuff until next time

Couple of weeks

Boring here in TX.  Same old weather, work, etc. etc.  So no new posts.  Maybe it will get exciting soon!  Hopefully!!!

Boring week

had to get a light jacket out of the closet and turn on the heat in the house.  Did not reach 100 this week and getting chilly.  Still waiting on rain - probably on WE,TH.  had too much in May and now drought.  Work is the SOS.  Did get out and ride this weekend both SA and SU. All for this week

HOT!!!!!

13 days above 100 with yesterday the hottest day in 3 years at 106.  Forecast of 106 again today.  Did get in the SU ride 32mi yesterday however.  Yes I'm crazy but not insane!  I got in the car yesterday pm and the team in the car was 150 so it was hot and took the ac a little time to cool off the car.  Other than the heat every thing else is normal in TX.

"Normal" Week

finished PT on shoulder on FR so semi back to normal with a 74yr old shoulder.  Rode this weekend - normal 40+ on SA and 30+ on SU.  Will be in the 100's for the rest of the week and no rain so the water bill goes up watering the lawn.  OH well it is TX in the summer.

100 Degrees

Finally made it officially at DFW airport.  Been a subject on the news for a long time.  When is the first 100 degree day?  It was hot riding on the weekend and cut the SU ride short.  Other than that everything normal or as normal as TX can be.

More of the same

Did not post last week as I had to work on MO.  Then too tired after 4 days at work.  Really missed MO off.  Did get in bike riding both weekends but taking it easy because of the heat.  Only 32mi both SA, SU the week and that was enuff.  Still waiting for hockey, theater, DSO seasons to start.  Did make it to the Allen Alericans event last SA and they were giving away a poster with a piece if the net from the ECHL champshionship games.  Another hockey souvenir to put on the pile😀.
Hopefully more nest week

Interesting week

Did not post last week because SOS.  However this week was different.  On SA or SU I lose a crown. Big hole in left side of head.  Always big hole in head ( for the MI nephew so he won't have to say it).  Had appointment on FR 8am and the said they would be scanning the area and making the crown.  About 40 min later I went home.  Had to come back in an hour as they would have it ready to install. No longer week or so as in the past, with temporary crowns etc. The scan is sent to a machine in the lab and the crown cut from a block of material.  It was glued on and done.  I ask to see the process in the back and was taken to the machine.  A block of material not really big is placed in the machi g and then the cutters co to work. and done.  Kinda like 3d printing but whirling burs cut the material in the agape from the scan.  The assistant said she and her husband used to have a dental lab but had to sell as a lot of the stuff they used to do is now being done in the dental offices and not sent out.  Bridges are a thing of the past with implants, crowns as just done etc.  progress?
Did ride SA got real hot and tired.  Rode SU and left the ride early and rode back to the start by myself.  Really hot and tired.  Napped and back to "normal" whatever that is.  Whew that is enuff typing

Next week

boring week.  Watching Jerry Springer while doing a load of laundry.  Rained again SU so no biking but did get in a 38mi (short) on SA.  Still physical therapy on shoulder (none today - therapist sick). 2 more treatments and then the end.  Still a little sore but range of motion is getting better.  Has not hampered too many duties/fun things to do.  Dust Bunny got a good health checkup last week.  Vet had fun getting blood (2 person job). The Dust Bunny likes to hide under blankets for the exam, but does get forced out for the blood draw.  I guess more work, few plays and NO hockey until September.  All for this week

Hockey

Allen Americans win the Kelly Cup.  That is the ECHL "Stanley Cup".  The game was a standing room only event.  AA won 6:1.  This was game 7 of the series.  The person for whom the cup is named presented the trophy last night.  He played hockey and started the league many years ago - kinda interesting.  This is a third straight Champshionship for the Americans.  CHL last 2 years and the CHL and ECHL merged this year.  So we have another banner for the rafters of the arena.
Other than this it has been pretty boring here in Big R.  Same on
Led stuff working, biking, etc. etc.

Hot

Well the rain stopped and the heat is starting.  In the low 90's over the weekend and now have to get used to the while riding.  AC's getting a tune up.  One had a blown capacitor and the other needed a new motor in the outside unit ( being installed today).  Happy to have lots to do away from the houe as upstairs was hot.  Still getting physical. There. On the left shoulder but not interfering to much in activities.  Allen Americans are 2:2 with the SC Stingrays.  More of the same for the rest of the week.

Monday, June 1, 2015

Ark not needed

finally stopped raining SA.  Got to ride on SU.  Rode by the "comic.com" exhibition at the convention center.  Wierd  people dressed up as different characters from the comics, movies, etc.  but then there were wierdly dressed bicyclists watching them.  Did not pay to go in just watched them entering the building.  Then off to see one of the lakes and the flooding.  I know if you are watching any TV you have seen the overflowing rivers, lakes etc as this has been the wettest May in recorded history.  Over 17 inches of rain officially at the airport but lots more in different gauges in the area.  All lakes in the area are over full by May inches and that means releasing the water downstream. Etc. etc.  no Iran forecast for the week and hopefully they are right.  Need to get back on the bike. Not much else until next week.

Stop Raining

Rained  pretty much every day this week.  Rained out again this weekend for bike riding.  I was standing in the parking lot where we start out SA rides with an umbrella up.  It was intermittent and had one ride ride in (yes he is crazy - also a 200-300 mi rider on the weekends - or at least in the past he has slowed down some) and he was a little wet but said it was not bad.  Others coming I for the south said it was really raining ther and heading out way.  I and another rider went for breakfast, one decided to go home ( these wer the 2 I usually ride with).  The rest of the group, about 10, did go for the ride and got rained on several times.  Had breakfast SU and this is where I heard about the ride.  Rain forecast every day this week also. Lots of flooding and bad storms and you can probably see them on TV newscasts.
Allen Americans Won one in CA and now back home for hopefully 2 more games to win the Champshionship.  I don't have much hope however as they were out played in all 3 games and lost - 2 of 3 in shutouts.  Games TU and WE so we will know soon. They have been fun to watch and have season tickets for next year.

Another week passes

Allen Americans won the last round and now in the Western Conferene ECHL Finals.  Playing Ontario Reign (CA) and won last night SU 8:2 and play again tonight (MO) then on to CA for the net 3 games.  Then back here for the last 2 if necessary (hopefully not-as we will have won and on to the next round). Having some PT on the left shoulder this pm before the game.  Feeling much better but need it checked out as it is still a little sore.  Just enuff to need some OxyContin to sell :>). Rained again this weekend.  Enough to keep the riders away on SA so I went and did the easy going ride-a 20 mi 11mph ave ride but did ride.  SU was breakfast as usual with other club non-riders for the BS.  Work som the week and it is forecast to rain most of the week.  All lakes above normal and lots of flash flooding and night water rescues in the area.  Nice goings on in Waco and biker gangs.  All for this week

Monday, May 11, 2015

Boring

Rained over the weekend so no bike riding.  Forecast is for rain 6 of 7 days this week with rain on SA and SU again.  But we will wait and see.  Allen Americans will play game 6 tomorrowTU and hopefully move on to Semi Finals.  If no win on TU can try again on game 7 on WE.  So back to work tomorrow and same old stuff.   Are recruiting for new Opt. Supr. so it will be interesting who will want the position.  Most of the staff I don't believe will even apply so outsider will be coming in. Fun fun fun.   All for this week.

Monday, May 4, 2015

Waiting

waiting for the soreness to leave and "fun?" to watch the bruises change color.  Black-blue-yellow very colorful.  Rode 43 mi SA and 33SU so biking is not over and avoided all cars this week.  Allen has started the second round with one win and one loss.  Now on to Rapid City for the next 3 games.  Hopefully they will make it back for the last game(s).  DSO on FR with Streisand songs/music. Everyting else the same.

Monday, April 27, 2015

Back Again

This week was spent doing the "usual" things.  Worked 2 days, Allen Americans won the first round and on to the next starting FR.  Spent Th- SU in San Antonio for my RPh CE.  Still sore and black, yellow and blue from the accident.  Allen starts the 2nd round on FR.  I guess that's it for now.

Monday, April 20, 2015

interesting SU

Bike ride on the way back to the start I was hit by a car.  This is not the same as running over a cat.  Car had stopped and we had the right of way-NO stop sign for us.  I think the driver noticed one riders go by the the intersection and started out not looking both ways.  I was hollering as she hit me.  Very sore, no broken bones but lots of muscle aches.  Did go tot the ER for X-Rays and a head scan and they found only vacuum.  Watching for any head symptoms.  Lots of ER responders and cops at the scene.  Going to have my bike looked at today - does not look like much damage only the handle bar tape but we will see.  Other than that hockey and work.
Need to find a six year old to shoe me how to put pictures here.  Tried but too tuff

New Week

Stopped raining enuff for a 37mi bike ride on SU.  Our rally was on SA and Bout 1000 riders rode anywhere from 30-60 mi depending on route chosen.  Lots of TX blue bonnets in bloom and make the ride pretty but hilly for TX.  Allen Americans in playoffs with games on TU WE home games the head to Tulsa for the next 2.  It is a 2-2-1-1-1 series so if they go 7 games we will have 4 home games.  STARS are waiting for next year.  So depending how far the Dead Wings go in the playoffs I might be funding 3 nephews college education.  Taxes are filed. YEAH.

Monday, April 6, 2015

Another "normal" week

more rain on the weekends and forecast for all week so no bike riding again.   Booooooo!!!!!  Did see an interesting performance on TH called "Hot Mikado". A musical adapted from Gilbert & Sullivan.  Allen Americans are having a season ticket holder event at Top Golf tonight.  Food and free golf, meet the players, coaches and staff.  Know most of the staff after 5 years of season tickets.  STARS are almost finished with the season.  Only lots of help from other teams and miracles from the STARS will make the playoffs.  Have already signed up for next year.  So it looks like I will continue to contribute to the MI nephews college education.

New Post

Saw an interesting theater the other night.  Titled "Fellowship!: A Musical Parody of The Fellowship of the Ring". The title says it all and I should have been more familiar with the Rings stories.  But then I would have to read.  Very funny and enjoyable.  Nice weather this weekend and able to get in 70 mi on the bicycle.  Hockey last week also.  The Americans are in the playoffs but not looking good for the STARS.  That's about it - rest of the week was fairly normal.

Monday, March 23, 2015

Tiring

More rain and no bike riding again this week.  Allen Americans are in the playoffs, at least one of my teams have made it.  The STARS are still trying to make it and I'll need a lot of help to get there.  Good team but not coming together soon enuff for the playoffs.  So I guess more TX $ will be flowing to MI again.  One theater this week and one DSO performance and a couple of hockey games.  The forecast is for good weather for the weekend so hopefully bike riding.

Culture Week - Theater/DSO

This week was spent at the theater and DSO.  The Water Tower theater has a "Out Of The Loop" festival each year that highlights short one act, original, 1 hr plays.  Very interesting some not as enjoyable as the others.  SA saw 3 plays in one day.  Rest of the week was one per evening.  The DSO had a piano piece, written by one of my bicycle friends son, a freshman at SMU performed during the concert.  Not my cup of tea as too long hair but he is a very talented composer/musician.  Did get some riding in this weekend and now recovering!!!  Been too long off the bike.  Enuff culture for a while.

Monday, March 9, 2015

SNOW and more rain

No bike riding again this weekend.  Too much rain and cold weather.  Earlier in the week we had the most snow for a March since the 1940's. About 3-7 inches depending on what part of the Metroplex you lived.  Did make it too work.  Left at 5:30am and it took about 1/2 hr longer than normal but I beat the traffic idiots.  I normally leave about 6am so not much earlier.  I get coffee and read the papers when I get to work and that way avoid the traffic.  A little hockey but both teams on the road for a while.  Back to work tomorrow and the temps will be in the 70's toward the end of the week.

Monday, March 2, 2015

Weather in Big R

More hockey not to the likings of Dallas/Allen fans.  Dallas probably will not be in the playoffs but Allen is leading nationally in the ECHL even tho the have lost the last 6 games at home but win on the road.  Roads icy and about 2 inches of snow on top of that.  TU this week probably 65 and then more sleet and rain and freezing temp the rest of the week.  At the STARS game last night I saw a guy in shorts in the parking lot - temp 32.  I went to harrss him and ask if he was a Yankee dressed in shorts and flip flops with a STARS jersey on.  He was from KS but had been here most of his life.  He did laught at the question and his buddy told me he thought he was crazy also.  After the game he saw us in the parky lot and stated he was still warm.  Love all the excuses not to show up for work but I don't have to referee those any more.  Back to work tomorrow.

Monday, February 23, 2015

Another busy week

STARS games, Allen Americans games, and not in favor of the dallas teams.  Also, DSO with Disney music.  No riding this weekend as there was an Apple users meeting on SA and it rained on SU.  It is now sleeting and 25 degrees outside.  So it stay home for me.  Happy I don't have to work on Mondays.    I know looking at the weather reports, and reading the paper some of the country is in worse shape than TX.  60% of the flights from/into DFW are cancelled.  I'm staying in and watching Jerry Springer, Maury and Steve Wilcos.  Quite a lineup.  Also starting to get the taxes ready-another wonderful chore.  Time for a nap.

Monday, February 16, 2015

Nice weather

in the 70's over the weekend.  Great for the bike rides!  Some hockey STARS and the Americans.  The Americans had a pucks and paws night.  They invited ( actually sold $5.00 tickets to the dogs) the dogs to the event.  Held in conjunction with the SPCA.  Had special jerseys they auctioned off after the game.  Part of the proceeds to the SPCA.  Most of the jerseys went for over $500.  Another weird theater at MBS Productions.  Today off as usual and more hockey this week.

Monday, February 9, 2015

New Week

Car is back and fixed. YEAH!  Nice weather for the bike rides this weekend.  In the 70's so summer is here for at least the weekend.  No hockey this week at least locally.  Allen Americans are doing better on the road than the STARS.  Off to the theater on TH.  Weird performances and if interested look up MBS productions.  That will explain better than I can.  Probably will see American Sniper today.  That is about it for the post.

Monday, February 2, 2015

Rain

I wish it would rain during the week (but not the day of the wreck) as rain in weekends (as the as few) does not allow for bike riding.  Did get to a couple of Allen hockey games, lost 1 won 1, a theater visit to "I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change" for the lost track to number of times.  Saw it 4 times one year and the theater brings it back each year - this is the 15th year.  Lots of laughs and very entertaining.  More hockey and theater this week.  Should get the car back TU or WE hopefully.

Monday, January 26, 2015

Nothing new except

On the way to work TH a person moved swiftly from the right lane toward mine.  I had to move over quickly and was forced into a puddle of water.  It had really been raining and more of a lake than a puddle.  Was driving a boat into the inside metal/cement barrier.  Approx 135 to 180 turn in the left lane and shoulder and contact with the wall.  Backed back on the road (not much traffic thankfully) and head on to work.  Drove home and took car to Herb's for repair after calling USAA.  $2,000+ damage to front.  Taking car in today and will probable get it back TH or FR hopefully.  No one injured other than the brown stains in the shorts and car seat.  Theater and hockey this week plus driving the Miata for most of the week.

Monday, January 19, 2015

Hockey week

STARS TU, TH, SA, Allen Americans SU, FR, a pharmacy meeting for 8 hrs CE on SA,  work 3 days (at least showed up) and did finally get a 30 mi bike ride in on SU.  Weather I hope is getting better for biking.  SU was tuff as this was a first ride since the middle of Dec.  The ride leader took it easy on us as most of us, including him, had not been riding all tha much.  That is it for this week

Monday, January 12, 2015

Now rain and cold

Rained both SA and SU and cold but not freezing.  Freeze and rain not at the same time.  Hockey of the weekend Allen wins both.  This week STARS TU, TH and SA.  Other than that all normal in Big R.  Theater (movie) today.  Taken 3 - lots of action and hard to bei
Piece that with all the automatic weapons in the hand of the enemy and a 45 in the hands of the hero the the hero received no wounds.  But that is Hollywood

Monday, January 5, 2015

Cold

too cold for riding bikes.  In the 20's - but best part no rain or snow!  So just hanging around the house but do hit the hockey games.  The Allen Americans arena is as cold as the outside temp so wear lots of warm clothes.  The AA are at the top of the ECHL so far this year.
