For of those of you who do not know the some of the traditions behind the cup - The one in the previous post has to do with each member of the team getting to take the cup "home" with them for a specified period of time (I think 3-5 days). The members then take the cup to schools, their previous hockey teams etc. etc. etc. In this case, Mario got to take it home first - probably OK, since he owns the STANLEY CUP WINNERS for 2009. Yes the cup does float as pictures show. Now some of you wanted to know how I got these pictures. I'll give you some sources and you can make up your own story or pick the true one from the list. (Do not think it should be too hard as when in doubt always pick ?)
A. Being a Stars season ticket holder since 1995, I do know some of the Stars "Brass" and my name was "drawn" as one to go see the cup in Pittsburgh.
B. My first several seasons I shared my tickets with my boss's husband and they were from Pittsburgh. After a couple of years the kids came along and now we just go the Pittsburgh games. They being from Pittsburgh had connections and we went to the party!!!
C. Cathy who goes to most of the games (her husband does not like hockey that much - but will go on weekends) and sits with me, works for a company based in Pittsburgh and they trade stories, very similiar to the MI cousin and I. She was invited to the party and the pictures were sent to Cathy and Cathy thought my blog would be a good place to put some of them and see what kind of stories would get started.
D. and someone accused me of getting these pictures off the internet - now I would not do anything like this.
Now for some really big news - It is raining in Big R and not bike riding today - breakfast only but did get in 50mi yesterday before it got to 100+ When we finished it was a cool 99.
