Posted by Picasa

I was watching TV on day with "The Dust Bunny" and she was interested the the picture hanging on the wall. It is a Calder artist proof of "Evolution" starting the the 2 cell organism in the lower left and then clockwise around to the fish etc. Naturally DB was interested in the fish but liked the sun in the middle. She quickly tired of looking at "art" and then took a quick nap to awaken and "ask" where is the food!!!

More Ft Worth Ride

Here are some pictures from FT Worth TX. The Longhorns in the previous post had just been "driven" down the street with coyboys (that make up of the "herders was a couple of African Americans, a couple of Hispanic and a couple of "white" and one woman bring up the rear). I noticed the make up of the "crew" and no one else was trained in EEO. The train is how we rode to FT Worth and the picture of us eating is why we ride. The characters had to have their picture taken with other characters that rode bicycles

Ft Worth Ride

Thought some of you might want to see what cattle really look like. These with the cowboys were found on our Ft. Worth ride in June. More about that later. Just grazing along the bike/hike trail. And as you can guess there were some road bombs to be missed as we rode. The horns are really scary on these "pets".

Stanley Cup

For of those of you who do not know the some of the traditions behind the cup - The one in the previous post has to do with each member of the team getting to take the cup "home" with them for a specified period of time (I think 3-5 days). The members then take the cup to schools, their previous hockey teams etc. etc. etc. In this case, Mario got to take it home first - probably OK, since he owns the STANLEY CUP WINNERS for 2009. Yes the cup does float as pictures show. Now some of you wanted to know how I got these pictures. I'll give you some sources and you can make up your own story or pick the true one from the list. (Do not think it should be too hard as when in doubt always pick ?)

A. Being a Stars season ticket holder since 1995, I do know some of the Stars "Brass" and my name was "drawn" as one to go see the cup in Pittsburgh.

B. My first several seasons I shared my tickets with my boss's husband and they were from Pittsburgh. After a couple of years the kids came along and now we just go the Pittsburgh games. They being from Pittsburgh had connections and we went to the party!!!

C. Cathy who goes to most of the games (her husband does not like hockey that much - but will go on weekends) and sits with me, works for a company based in Pittsburgh and they trade stories, very similiar to the MI cousin and I. She was invited to the party and the pictures were sent to Cathy and Cathy thought my blog would be a good place to put some of them and see what kind of stories would get started.

D. and someone accused me of getting these pictures off the internet - now I would not do anything like this.

Now for some really big news - It is raining in Big R and not bike riding today - breakfast only but did get in 50mi yesterday before it got to 100+ When we finished it was a cool 99.

Hope this shed some light on the Cup Pictures.

Darn it

I left and look what the Dust Bunny posted. I have to start turning off the computer. It has been hot here in Big R but not hot enuff to keep us from riding. The temp this last week has been 104. This week it is cooling off to highs in the 98-99 range. Been riding 54mi on Saturday and 30+ on Sundays and taking the rest of the week to re-hydrate. Still working as much as in the past, Fridays off and the Hockey season is not getting ready to start next year. My brain must have been over-heated as I have tickets to the Texas Tornado (NAHL 16-20 year olds); the Allen Americans (CHL) and the Dallas STARS (NHL) to help me keep cool this winter. The usualy theaters and DSO to round out the interests. Work has been slacking off and not enuff to do but we are getting more business this next month. Hopefully I will not have to look for another job - but then maybe I could retire and watch Jerry Springer and Maury.

Well to give the MI frozen brain some hope I have a signed Steve Duchesne puck. I think he played for the Dead Ones in the early 2000's.

I'll try and not leave the cmputer on and keep the silly cat off the computer and I'll post more. but I'm still ahead of one "blogger" who hasn't posted since 2/08

Later or as the new kids say L8R

I've Been Alone

The Ac/Food provided has been gone and look what I've found on the camera. He returned in a real good mood and I can see why. Take a look at these pictures from Pittsburg PA.

Naturally it started with the parade and ended up at Mario's house for the party. Lots of fun. Hope the frozen brain in MI can get to a party like this one someday

Well I'm back

The Ac/Food provider left the computer on again. Just quick update - every one is OK in big R. It is getting warmer down here and is raining again. No bike riding the last two weekends as too much rain. We have started the ark in the back yard and will be taking only 2 on board - naturally me and someone to supply the comforts of home.
I finally shamed him into turing on the AC. The upstairs is carpeted except for the bathroom. I started staying downstairs on the tile (much cooler than upstairs) of if I graced him with my presence I would lie on the tile in the bathroom and just have as little of my feet on the carpet. From his chair all he could see were 4 little feet on the carpet. Now that the AC is on I come out and sleep in my chair or on the floor behind him. I'll see if he will take a picture and will post it.

I saw an e-mail to one of his symphony mates and they saw the 5 Browns last night. The Dallas Moring News writer summed it up this way -

"It's been a while since I've heard such a perfectly played – and perfectly boring – performance." and "If these handsome players can entice teenagers to the rigors of practice, and introduce the beauty of the music, then even an indifferent performance can serve a purpose."

I think he and his friends left at half-time.

He also was at the Dallas Theater Center on Thurs to see "Sarah, Plain and Tall" and he liked that one.

Maybe pictures next time

Guess Who

The Ac/Food provider just could not post this so guess who was recruited to do it - ME

He gave me a list of what is in the pictures and even took one of the "most important" (or most impotent for some of the accents heard here in Big D) items in the collection. One of the past-presidents of the TSHP was in town for the coronation (inauguration) and picked up this stuff which he offered for sale in the silent auction.

Here is the list of the stuff in the pictures!!
1 Official invitation to attend the Inauguration
1 Washington Post Newspaper Inauguration Day issue
1 Washington Post Special Inauguration Section
1 Size Large President Obama T-Shirt
1 Size Medium Michelle Obama T-Shirt
1 President Obama deck of playing cards
1 President Obama coffee mug
1 President tin of breath mints
1 Washington DC Tourist carry bag
And 1 handshake from a person who attended the Inauguration and an Inaugural Ball!!

The AC/Food provider will pass it on to whomever wants a handshake

Now the AC/Food provider does not want to start a family fight as he said he bid on these for the TN Russell (Lambert) so you will have to talk to her for any leftovers.

Whew happy this is over
Dust Bunny

Just a Quick Update

I was at the TSHP meeting this weekend getting my yearly CE so I can keep my license and pay off the frozen MI brain and my hockey losses. The TSHP has a R & E committee that awards pharmacy students and residents scholarships. They have a money raising silent auction and ask for donations. I had the winning bid on something from the silent auction. I'll be taking pictures as they are hard to describe and putting it on this site. May have to have an auction as this is really neat stuff and I'm running out of room in the house.

Did my part for the economy

Well take at look at the pictures attached. I purchased a new refrigerator and dishwasher. Been in the house since 1975 and this will be the 3rd refrigerator and dishwasher. Not too bad for 34 years, and the lady that sold me these said they will not last as long - just not built that way anymore. Now I need to know if anyone wants any refrigerator magnets. Take a look at the white refrigerator - I did not like it white so I covered it with magnets - refrigerator with magnets. Now how about the new one with stainless steel (non magnetic) front and black side (magnetic). I have lots of magnets left over. They just might have to go on the washer/dryer as I just can't throw them away (any one who does not believe that??? - must be a Russell thing - right Doug????). Been doing my thing at the theater - will not bore you with that as previously. Attended the symphony last night - music of John Williams and to the delight of the frozen brain in MI the Stars season is over. Here are the pictures

My last 7-10 days

If y'all get thru this you will probably look like this at then end. This is how I found the DB as I was typing this - she was really bored!! This is her normal position while I'm on the computer - either this or getting petted on my lap.

This has been my week to 10 days since 3/5/09. I will attempt to put descriptions of the plays if you want to read about them. I cautioned you about the 3 plays on one night in last message.

3/5 - Theater 3 - "Don't Dress for Dinner"
3/6 - Water Tower 1. "Takin' A Break From Sex and 2. "Showgirls 2.0"
3/7 - Water Tower 1. "One Man Star Wars Triology" 2. "Straight" 3. "Deconstructing"
3/8 - Stars vs Montreal
3/9 - Water Tower "Pvt. Wars"
3/10 - Water tower "Cowboy vs Samurai"
3/11 - Water Tower "Some People"
3/12 - Stars vs Carolina
3/13 - DSO - Glenn Miller Orchestra with Debbie Boone
3/14 - Stars vs Minnesota
3/15 - Brahamas vs Wichita (CHL Hockey) Maybe not as I need a rest

All but 2 worth watching - Showgirls and Some People - should have left ShowGirls early but stayed to the end. Some People had polite applause at the end and comments of "What was that about?" All others very interesting in their own way

The following are taken from the respective Websites - have to reference my material to avoid copyright infringement

Don't Dress for Dinner
Infidelities and frustrated couplings are a long French literary specialty. Moliere, Marivaux, and Feydeau abound with witty repartee as men scramble after women, and women delight in the pursuit. In this recent Paris (and London) hit, a very modern French husband is planning to host a dinner in his wife’s absence. The dinner is a prelude to a liaison with his mistress, a plan the husband has divulged to his best friend. But, surprise! Can you guess who the best friend has as his mistress? And who is this beguiling female chef sent to concoct the perfect seductive meal?

Takin' a Break From Sex
Written and performed by Andy & Joleen MullinsIn Takin’ a Break from Sex, Andy and Joleen Mullins have taken marriage, friendship, mid-life crisis, and absurdities of relationships, along with some silliness, and have written them into original comedic sketches that range from clever to brazen. This married comedy couple invites you to sit back and enjoy their fun romp through scenes emphasizing that opposite sex perceptions are a myriad of crazy conversations and hilarious situations.

Showgirls 2.0 with David Schmader
Upon its 1995 release, Paul Verhoeven’s glitzy stripper drama SHOWGIRLS earned some of the most extravagantly awful reviews in cinema history. “A film of thunderous oafishness," wrote Kenneth Turan of the Los Angeles Times, with critics around the globe unanimously damning Showgirls as a failure doomed to die in infamy.Only it didn’t. Since its original release, SHOWGIRLS has grown into a full-fledged cult phenomenon, thanks in no small part to the cinematic missionary work undertaken by David Schmader, the critically acclaimed writer and performer who hosted his first annotated screenings of the film at Seattle’s Northwest Film Forum in 1999. Part art-appreciation lecture, part sit-down comedy routine, all against the backdrop of Verhoeven’s peerlessly offensive, flesh-drenched disaster, SHOWGIRLS with David Schmader was an instant hit, packing theaters in Seattle and touring to film festivals across the country, with Schmader reintroducing Verhoeven’s hideous folly to a generation of filmgoers as the most inadvertent, surreally hilarious comedy in film history.Just a warning: This show is rated NC-17. No one under the age of 17 will be admitted.

One Man Star Wars Trilogy
A one-hour, high energy, nonstop blast through the first three Star Wars films. The catch is, there's only one cast member. Charles Ross, the writer and solo performer, spent too much of his childhood in a galaxy far, far away- adulthood has been similar. Ross plays all the characters, recreates the effects, sings the music, flies the ships, and fights both sides of the battles.

Straight
Straight is David Schmader's hilarious and subversive solo play about the world of conversion therapy, where gays and lesbians are reputedly "cured" of their homosexuality and made "straight." Plunging into the heart of this highly charged territory—from going undercover at "ex-gay" support groups in Seattle to an intensive crash course in Christian heterosexuality deep in the heart of Texas—writer/performer Schmader blends an essayist's insight with the spark of stand-up comedy to get to the bottom of what it means to be "straight."

The Victims present Deconstructing...
The Victims are bringing highly theatrical unscripted comedic mayhem to the Out of the Loop Fringe Festival with their show Deconstructing… Each night The Victims will create a totally improvised show based on the true stories of a very special guest.

Pvt. Wars
Set in a veterans hospital post Vietnam War, Pvt. Wars follows the abundant, and sometimes absurd, exploits of Silvio, Gately, and Natwick. This uplifting portrayal of everyday life in the wake of war artfully blends humor and pain, triumph and uncertainty. Laughs of every type are sure to abound in James McClure's acidly funny portrayal of three young men working to resolve their own private wars.

Cowboy versus Samurai
Travis Park is a high school English teacher and the only Korean American man living in a dusty cowboy town known as Breakneck, Wyoming. And when a gorgeous, whip-smart Asian American woman moves into town, he immediately falls for her; the only problem is that she only dates white men.In this savagely funny and often moving comic re-telling of Edmond Rostand’s Cyrano de Bergerac, one man must choose allegiance between his cowboy friend (a dim, handsome, Caucasian P.E. teacher named Del) and his Asian Brother-with-a-Capital-B (crazed, militant Asian of Unknown Origin, Chester). He must choose between the Asian American and the American within himself – between Cowboy versus Samurai – in a pursuit of a love that may only be as real as the love letters he writes for someone else.Due to some strong language and crude humor, parental guidance is advised.

Some People
Some People is about an ordinary Dallas suburb. The husband, wife and kid, relatives, neighbors, and friends—some people who hear voices, stare off into space thinking of nothing, and have no idea how they got there. No matter how they try the world makes no sense. Is it a dream? A comic routine? What’s going on? As time and space fold and spin something happens to some people we know. Things are different…and they like it.

Theater Visits

Still attending the theater and saw "I Love You, Your Perfect, Now Change" for the 3rd time this run. Now I really don't enjoy it at all. Also saw "In the Beginning" a presentation of the 1st 10 chapters of Genesis. Had an audience discussion at the end and was well done and very interesting and took care of the church visit for the week. The advisers for the play were scientists, theologians, ministers, etc.
Have signed up the several performances in the Water Tower's "Out of the Loop Festival". Here is the website to see the plays being presented if interested http://www.watertowertheatre.org/ Some are first run, some off the wall, and hopefully fun as this is the first year I signed for these. You buy a pass (make reservations) and then you can see them all if your schedule permits. One Saturday I start at 5pm and end around 12 Midnight (3 performances with dinner in between)

No New Pictures

I know a couple of readers will not understand this. The 2 I'm talking about repair cars (Miatas) and re-roof houses or build chicken coops in MI. My Miata had a noise coming from the drivers rear side and was getting worse and I was afraid to drive it thinking it was a suspension problem, etc.etc. Thinking I would have to take a 2nd mortgage to get it fixed I had left it parked in the garage for a couple of weeks. Stopped by the Miata place last week and make an appointment for this am. Took the car in but on the way stopped and looked in the trunk to see if anything was moving around causing the sounds - just a coat and a bag for transporting the Dust Bunny in and out of the vets - she rides loose in the car so she can look out the windows or the back shelf. Nothing loose and explained the problem to the service person. Also ask for an oil change at the same visit. The ride home would be a while so the service person said they could probably have the diagnosis made before I needed a ride home. 20-25 minutes later the service person (Penny) came and ask when I had used the jack last time. I have only changed 1 tire in the 11 years I've had the car - so a long time. The technician had found loose jack after looking at the suspension etc. etc. They did not charge me for the loose jack tightening and I left without the 2nd mortgage. YEAH YEAH!!!!

A little history with Penny - at one time after service and paying the bill, the car was in the driveway at the dealership. As I left the showroom I immediately turned around and told Penny that was not my car in the driveway. She immediately looked in the computer with a confused look on her face and then said "We have washed you car" Ha Ha Ha

Another picture

Here is the house W will be living in. It will be closely guarded after he moves in. I am not in this picture as I was in Houston. The riders thought they heard helicopters in the area and unmarked cars patrolling. (just kidding) this will be off limits to all but the neighbors in a few weeks. The house next door is for the Secret Service. I have shown this house to several people in then last few weeks after the address was published in the Dallas Morning News. One of the neighbors is Tom Hicks owner of the TX Rangers and the DALLAS STARS.

Bumper Sticker From MI

After the Coronation - the frozen brain in MI sent me this and I think he forwarded to others but I just thought I should/would put it here

What's going On

Busy Seek - In Houston for the Trockadero Ballet and again Saturday night. Hockey on Tuesday, Friday and again Sunday. DSO last night with the orchestra members being the soloists. Interesting performances. Off today. Did I mention (memory problems as I get older) that SeniorMed laid off 7 people 2 weeks ago and reduced one part time RPh hours. I was asked how many hours I needed to work to keep me from leaving. Now 30 for the next 4 weeks then who knows. Might be beggting for a stall in the barn in MI. I'll have to snuggle with the sheep for warmth. Here is the website (http://www.trockadero.org/)for the ballet - very interesting.
This will be my 5th time seeing them. Jaason/Heather saw them in BR a couple of years ago. Lela and Doug would not go when they were in Naptown.
Enuff for now - just to left everyone know I'm still kicking. Will ride this weekend and will be in the 70's (heat wave for MI) but will still be wearing windbreakers here in Big D/R

Wednesday 1/28

Well there is lots of ice in the area. The TV stations are continually rebradcasting Icy roads, icy roads, icy roads, ETC. ETC. ETC. How many times can you say icy roads. 2 hrs now for NBC channel 5 - I'm not counting anymore. I had a MD appointment at 8:30am today and was in their parking garage at 7:30am. They called at 7:06 (home) and told me the office will be closed. They had warned me about this 1/27 but being in health care and never letting the weather keep me from work (yes even car-pooled, started 2.5 hrs before the start of the day, etc. etc.) I just thought others would not let a little ice keep them at home. WRONG!!! I was looking for a new dermatologist so this just might speed up the procedure. This was only a follow up as the "barnacles" removed in October showed no abnormalities. Took today off as he does no see derm patients other than WE/TH other days are saved for "hair" people - more $$$ I guess.

As stated in previous post I watched Bloody Valentine 3D and liked it. Well the same is not for "Slumdog Millionare" What as waste of time. Theater was full and has lots of publicity thru the awards shows (but what do they know) - Save your money!!

Another Post - What's Going On

Well the AA/Food provider just returned so naturally I had to run downstairs (left the bed previously described) to guess what - Eat. He always give me food (if I show up and I always do) but this time I noticed he had a weird pair of glasses (his normal glasses are weird enough) so I really did notice. They were 3D glasses from "My Bloody Valentine - 3D" movie. He will have to tell you about it as I did not go - but those glasses sure were weird.
I can't believe that someone might think I would run away from food, AC and napping (see previous comment)
DB again

He left the computer on and look at me

It's been a while since pictures of me appeared on this blog. Some of the older people who will look at these cute pictures of me might recognize the chair. I understand this is the Fantom's grandfathers chair. Green upholstery with "matching" ottoman. This chair faces the TV and has 2 pillows with "purr pad" for me to watch the TV and nap. More napping that TV watching however.
DB

What's new in Big R???

Lots of Hockey - Sometimes the Stars can keep a 3 period lead and win and sometimes they fall apart. Best part of the season the Dead Wings have lost to the Stars 2x so that helps the balance sheet with the MI ??. Did buy some tickets to the CHL (hockey) Brahamas. They are a little more physical that the NHL (Yeah). Lots of theater - here are some of the titles 1. Trysts In Toledo 2. A Scull in Connemara 3. and last night Violet. On to see I Love You, Your Perfect, Now Change tonight and tomorrow and one more time scheduled (Yes 3 times so far this year - 4 last year). I do not like this play?? but it is one you can take non-theater goers to and they like the performance. I'm an understudy for most of the parts - lost track of how many times I've seen it.
Still riding the bike. Weather here yesterday was 34 in the am and 80 by afternoon - 2 degrees above normal for the low and 26 degrees above normal for the pm temp. Great weather for biking but you never know what to wear.
Last week at Seniormed (A Walgreen Company) 7 technicians and clerical personnel lost their jobs - lack of business currently but adding more. Talked to me about fewer hours but the next 5 weeks are still 30/wk and we'll wait and see. Maybe I could really retire. One of the consultant pharmacists was in the building yesterday and was relating a story of a 75 yr old pharmacist (I still have a few years to go) who said the only retired pharmacist is a dead one. A pharmacist so far has neveer really wanted for a job - thanks goodness.
Maybe I should post more and keep the rambling down.
All for now
